Carole Treston, RN, MPH, ACRN, FAAN, Chief Nursing Officer for the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, is a PCORI Ambassador. She is an established leader in healthcare and nonprofit management with more than 20 years’ experience in local, national, and international health and research organizations. She co-developed one of the first comprehensive, family-centered HIV/AIDS clinical and research programs in the country and served as Executive Director of the Children’s Hope Foundation New York City. She was the Director of Operations for the PACTG/IMPAACT Group, the global multi-site, HIV/AIDS NIH clinical research network and was the Executive Director of AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth and Families, a national policy and advocacy organization in Washington, DC. She is an experienced nurse clinician with a Master of Public Health/Health Policy from Columbia University. For 10 years, she served as a study nurse and study coordinator on numerous NIAID and NICHD funded clinical trials and more recently has served as member of NIH study sections and objective review panels for clinical research networks and research protocols. Her areas of interest include health disparities; social determinants of health and wellness; health literacy; and strengthening and supporting the nursing workforce. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
Treston served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Clinical Trials from August 2016 to August 2019.
